Who We Are

Castillo Consulting Partners is a community-based consulting firm with a global footprint that is dedicated to empowering diverse leaders to use their voices for systemic change. We have over four decades of combined experience partnering with organizations across multiple sectors and generations. From strategic planning, design thinking, marketing and communications, research and analysis, to leadership development, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) assessment, and anti-racism training, our team is highly skilled in guiding our partners through complex systemic change, and successfully communicating progress toward their goals. ​

What We Believe

We believe that every individual has the ability to lead, every voice matters, every community knows what it needs to thrive, and community driven collective leadership drives sustainable change. diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and anti-racism (DEIJA) are at the core of what we do and how we approach our work. We believe that these principles and ways of leading, managing and operating are foundational to sustainable systemic change. ​

Our Founders

Our founders are community-based leaders with a global focus on helping individuals live out their highest and best potential. Their professional backgrounds, personal experiences and unique interdisciplinary skills are invaluable assets and have proven to be instrumental to the success of developing diverse leaders across sectors.

La Mikia (she, her), whose work in the public, private and nonprofit sectors has spanned from education and economic justice, to public health, environmental justice, child welfare and juvenile justice, has over two decades of experience in leadership development, strategic planning, design thinking, grassroots community organizing, youth engagement, policy advocacy and systems change. A commitment to social justice, racial equity and social change permeates each aspect of her personal and professional life.

​La Mikia supports organizations and enterprises with developing, implementing and assessing data-driven strategies, designs and facilitates leadership development trainings, conducts equity assessments, and moderates critical conversations around race, bias and equity. Her expertise lies in helping companies effectively embed equity, inclusion, diversity, access and anti-racism into their leadership, policies, practices, and procedures so they can best support and retain their people.

​An Afro-Latina who was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, La Mikia is a first generation alumna who has committed her life and career to developing leaders, investing in communities and promoting equity. She holds Bachelor's degrees in Ethnic Studies and Urban Studies & Planning from UCSD, dual Master's degrees in Public Policy and Urban Planning, and Certificates in Public Management, Political Management, and the Ross Minority Program in Real Estate from USC, where she serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Sol Price School of Public Policy. La Mikia also teaches Black, Latino and Latin American Relations courses in the Pan African Studies Department at Cal State Los Angeles.

​La Mikia 
resides in Los Angeles with her husband/partner, Daniel, their son, Justice, and dog, Ginger. In her spare time, she pretends to be a top vegan chef and prepares plant-based meals for her family and friends.

Daniel P. Castillo

Daniel (he, him​) brings over 15 years of creative strategic planning and creative programming, two decades of community organizing and coalition building, several years of leadership development in the juvenile justice, education and creative arts sectors, along with equity, inclusion, diversity, access and anti-racism consulting experience to the team. His work spans from graphic design, filmmaking, brand and marketing consulting, to education, curriculum development, community organizing and leadership development with systems-impacted youth at the grassroots, and executives at the treetops.

Daniel supports organizations with developing creative arts programming, advises on creative content, campaigns, and event promotions, and develops youth community organizing, anti-bias curriculum and stakeholder engagement strategies across all sectors. He puts his filmmaking, graphic design and social media marketing skills to use to provide creative marketing, design and communications expertise for partners who are looking to effectively communicate their work. 

​Daniel is a Los Angeles native and first generation college graduate who leverages his artistic abilities and leadership philosophy to develop and shape narratives that creatively highlight the strengths and talents of those who are often disregarded and devalued. He holds a Master's Degree in Global Leadership and Certificate in Urban Youth Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Filmmaking and Video Production from the Art Institute of California, and an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design from Westwood College of Technology.

Daniel lives in Los Angeles with his wife/partner, La Mikia, their son, Justice, and dog, Ginger. In true creative fashion, he spends his weekends producing podcasts, writing scripts and editing short films. He also enjoys a good vegan burger and can often be found devouring
plant-based​ pastries.
